Maggie and Moe Mysteries: The Disappearing Duchess

[published in Simpsons Comics Presents: Bart Simpson #31]

The “Bart Simpson” comics typically focused on Bart and the other children of Springfield, and contained multiple short stories.  This is the second of three “Maggie and Moe Mysteries”.

They get progressively shorter, which kind of sucks. But at least this one didn’t really change the “theme song”.

I’m sticking most of the pages under a cut so this doesn’t appear terribly long on your dash, readers.

This one’s… not as good at rendering Moe’s dialogue. Sure, he mentions, in the actual episode (Moe Baby Blues) that he’s glad Maggie can’t “understand all the  terrible things I say”, but he loves her and thinks she’s great.  So the “ya little idiot” thing falls flat to me.

I do like Moe lines on the next page, and the flashback bubble (but good god, Jimbo!), as well as Maggie patting Moe’s shoulder.

I’m really curious as to how the Samsons know Titania (who first appeared in the episode Pygmoelion) and why she’s babysitting Gerald, AKA Unibrow Baby.  I mean, which of Gerald’s parents is associated with Knockers?

Also ….god, you’re a pig, Moe.

And me? I’m such a nerd.  Juggernauts is located in Hollywood. It’s where Titania worked before she came to Springfield. Not all that fond of playing up Titania as a dummy…

Well, Moe was kinda on the right track when he accused the Wall E. Weasel mascot.

Yet again, the more I find out about Lindsey Naegle, the scummier she gets.

Best thing about this page? Hugs!

And, as usual in the Simpsons universe… evil gets away with it.  Ugh.

Maggie and Moe Mysteries: The Willful Will

[published in Simpsons Comics Presents: Bart Simpson #24]

The “Bart Simpson” comics typically focused on Bart and the other children of Springfield, and contained multiple short stories.  This is the first of three “Maggie and Moe Mysteries”.

Each begins with a page or two dedicated to a ‘theme song’ sequence, like this was a show within a show:

Honestly, this is the catchiest one…

I’m sticking most of the pages under a cut so this doesn’t appear terribly long on your dash, readers. And yes, Maggie being the more competent one is a consistent theme… XD

“Homer must’ve took the sugar bag with ‘em to eat on the log flume.  That’s always been his dream.” (I love that line.  And I love the two-panel flashback on the next page.)

image
image

“Yeah, well if he’s deceased ‘n’ all, then he won’t be needin’ no sugar, will he?” (This one has some great lines.  Though I have no idea how Ned beat Maggie and Moe to Mr. Ritzfield’s house when we saw him going into his house when they were leaving the Simpsons’…)

(Sidenote, but this is like, the second time that I’ve noticed Julius Hibbert being particularly useless.”Oh, my Lord! He IS dead!” – uh, Jules, maybe you wanna check Gil’s pulse first?  Like, I know that’s kind of the joke with him, but WOW.)

image

Moe: (throws  around wild accusations)
Maggie: (really really wishes she knew how to talk right now)

image
image

Say what you will about Moe, but at least he can (eventually) figure out what Maggie tries to tell him.

image

“Actually, ol’ Gil isn’t even dead, and I was lying right on top of the will!” See? Had Dr. Hibbert, you know, actually DONE SOMETHING, this could have been solved on page seven. XD  Ah, idiot plots…

Love Maggie and Moe playing with dolls there, and background Lisa and Bart on this page, though.

image

…Wow, Marge.  You look remarkably pissed at the end there.  You pay him to watch your kid, not clean your house or find your stuff. XD
